Go FAS Racing FireKeepers Casino 400

Race Advance

Driver: Matt DiBenedetto
Sponsor: CAN-AM

DiBenedetto and the No.32 Can-Am / Wholeys team aim to rebound from a tough run at Pocono this weekend in the FireKeepers Casino 400 at Michigan Speedway.

Race 15/36:

Matt DiBenedetto and the No.32 Can-Am / Wholey's team is making their way to Michigan International Speedway this weekend for the FireKeepers Casino 400. Sitting at 2-miles long, Michigan Speedway is not only of the largest ovals that the NASCAR circuit heads to, but it's also one of the fastest. DiBenedetto will be running the yellow and black Can-Am / Wholey's scheme that debuted at Daytona earlier this year.

A fast fast track:

What stands out most about Michigan International Speedway? Simple answer, the speed. The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series cars can average over 215mph on corner entry and there are only a few tracks on the NASCAR circuit that the race cars can get close to that. As the surface has aged over the last few years, the racing has improved and widened out. With downforce removed from the race cars in recent years, the cars have found themselves faster and faster upon corner entry. DiBenedetto will be making his seventh start at Michigan this weekend in the Can-Am / Wholey's Ford. After joining Go Fas Racing last season, DiBenedetto earned his two best-finishes at Michigan.

Last Week For the No.32 Team:

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series was in Pocono, PA last weekend for the Pocono 400. Although the team lacked speed initially, Saturday found DiBenedetto and Crew Chief Randy Cox moving up the time charts, finishing practice in the top-25. With high hopes for the race, DiBenedetto stayed on the lead lap for much of the race in the top-25 before having a mechanical failure which ended the day early for the Zynga Poker team.

DiBenedetto on racing at Michigan International Speedway:

"Michigan is fun really because of how fast you're going on corner entry - just below 220mph. The corners are really long so you're trying to free-roll a lot of speed. It's weird, because it's such a fast track, but it's also a momentum track, and you really have to focus on floating as much speed into the corner as possible. Even though you realize it's a fast track, you have to continue to tell yourself to drive into the corner deep every lap. The track is becoming more fun to race because it's really starting to spread out and with that, the racing will only continue to get better." DiBenedetto stated.
